There are many models of spas to choose from, but when selecting a spa you should consider your own personal needs. You need to consider whether your spa is going to be used for hydrotherapy, a place to relax with friends and family, or for entertaining. Spas are not a one size fits all product, there are models to suit from the tallest to the shortest person and models to suit lifestyle choice. Spa Select carry the largest range of Australian made spas, so choosing the right one is made even easier, but you should still test the spa for comfort. This means getting into a spa with water in it. Many of our Spa Select Dealers maintain filled demonstration models for this purpose. The most important points to consider are -
* Checking that the seats provide you with comfortable support, you should not have to slide down into the spa as you would do in a normal bath.
* When sitting in any of the seats in the spa, the water should reach shoulder level. If it doesn't, you will not get the full hydrotherapy impact.
* Stay in the spa for at least 5 minutes. At the end of that time, you will know whether the seating and jet configurations are comfortable.
Spa Select offer a Big Brands 'Best Price Guarantee'.
Is the Spa you are considering really made in Australia? Beware of the use of misleading and deceptive statements used on spa websites, like 'Australian Designed', 'Made to Australian Standards', 'Australia's leading spa retailer'. These statements imply that the spas are manufactured in Australia, when in fact they may not be. The Australian market is being flooded with poor quality imports, and has now spread to US and Canadian markets.

This is a question a question that is asked quite frequently. The sanitisation systems currently available on spas and swim spas are listed below according to their performance rating -
Sanitisation Performance - Two Star
An Ozonator does not replace the need for chemicals, it works to maintain clean, clear water and reduce the chemical load by 60 to 90%. The ozone generator runs and sanitizes the water when the pump is running. As Ozone is one of nature's most powerful oxidizers for purifying water and other substances and creates no dangerous by-products, corrosion or disposal issues, it is fast becoming the preferred eco friendly method. Ozonators work by forcing ozone to dissolve in the water, instantly neutralizing or killing a wider range of contaminants. As with ozone from the protective layer of the atmosphere, ozone produced from the ozone generator oxidizes the substances it comes into contact with, including bacteria, viruses, algae, oils, human fluids, fungus, chlorine by-products like chloramines, and some metallic elements. Ozone oxidizes contaminants so rapidly that it usually exists in pool water only a very short time, leaving nothing behind but ordinary oxygen (O2).For commercial pool disinfection, ozone is one of two secondary sanitizers to be included in the Model Aquatic Health Code's uniform guidelines for alternative pool sanitation. This inclusion may provide the endorsement ozone needs to move well past competing technologies among both residential and commercial customers.
Sanitisation Performance - Three Star
Salt Water sanitisation is generated by adding salt to the spa at the desired PPM. The salt water then passes through a cell generator to create Hypochlorous Acid a type of Chlorine which becomes the active sanitiser. This system kills algae and other harmful bacteria in the water, but is not a complete system and will still require Shock/Oxidiser to be added to the spa.
Sanitisation Performance - Four Star
A De-Gassing Ozone Sanitisation System produces higher levels of Ozone through a mixing Chamber. The residue ozone's are degassed from the spa through a charcoal destruct chamber and discharged externally from the spa. The Ozone molecule is a very powerful oxidizer, destroying any bacteria it comes into contact with, by attacking the contaminant at the molecular level, making it 3000 times faster and more effective than any other sanitiser presently available. When the oxidisation is complete, or if the ozone finds no contaminants to oxidise it, it will return to molecular oxygen (2 atoms) and dissipate into the atmosphere.
Sanitisation Performance - Five Star
The most effective sanitisation for your spa or swim spa is the Five Star SMART sanitisation with the Natural Salt and Ozone De-Gassing System. This system is by far the most effective for Spas and Swim Spas. It consists of an Ozone De-Gassing Sanitisation system with an automatic Salt Water Sanitiser and a low energy ECO Filtration System. The Salt Water Sanitiser kills all algae's and other harmful bacteria, whilst the Ozone De-Gassing System creates oxidisation, and attacks all contaminants. Filtering up to 48,000 litres per day, this is the BEST low maintenance Spa Sanitisation available.
An added protection in the Spa Select range of spas, is the Microban Filter. The fabric in the filters have been infused with Microban® technology which inhibits the growth of bacteria on the surface. When microbes come into contact with the surface of the filter, the Microban® technology penetrates the cell wall of the micro-organism and disrupts the cell function, which in turn disables the micro-organism ability to function, grow and reproduce. This technology provides you with an added level of cleanliness for your spa
If equipped with our Five Star Salt/Ozone De-Gassing system, this can be as little as once a year depending on the useage of the spa.
Hydrotherapy is the use of water to revitalise, maintain, and restore health.

The purpose of a circulation pump is to obtain the maximum filtration of the water in your spa, with the greatest energy efficiency. The high flow, low wattage draw circulation pumps used in the Spa Select range of spas provide maximum flow with whisper quiet operation, whilst drawing only .5 of an amp - that's equivalent to the power needed to illuminate one standard household light globe. This pump also has the highest 8-1/2 Star Energy Efficiency rating and has been rated as the best performing pump in the industry.
